When I was first introduced to creating CAD model visualizations, it was a bit overwhelming. I started by working with SolidWorks, where I focused on creating basic shapes and simple product models. From there, I transitioned to Blender, which offered me greater freedom and a more playful approach to design.
During the minor in Future Mobility Design, I decided to make a Blender model of my final transportation concept for the Rivium area in Rotterdam. I also created an animation video showcasing this modality in action (see below).
Developing the ability to create CAD models has been an exciting skill I’ve built throughout my bachelor’s studies. While I’m not yet where I want to be with my Blender skills, I have made significant progress. I plan to continue practicing and refining this skill, as I see it as an essential tool for future design projects. Not only does creating CAD models serve as an excellent way to present concepts, but the process itself is also a lot of fun.
